2 whole Red chillies
2 cups of rice
1tsp mustard seeds
1 cup of moong dal ki (split green gram)
3 tsp of ghee
For garnishing –coriander chopped
Salt to taste
Soak the moong dal and rice separately for one hour.
Heat the oil in a pressure cooker and add mustard seeds and red chillies and allow to splutter. Add the curry leaves. Add ginger garlic paste and coriander. Add carrot , beans and potato. Now add 51/2 cups of water, rice and moong dal.
Add salt to taste and close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook till the vegetables and rice are cooked. The khichdi should be thick but slightly watery. The quantity of water varies based on type of rice. Serve hot garninshed with coriander.
